Formerly know as Blue Line K-9, we launched our name change in 2024.

Russ Norcross - Founder & Master Trainer at Lead The Way Dog Training
With over two decades of professional K-9 training experience, Russ Norcross brings unparalleled expertise to Cape May County's dog training community. As a retired Law Enforcement K-9 Officer and former Cape May County Sheriff's Office K-9 Unit Supervisor, Russ has developed a unique training methodology that transforms how dogs and their owners communicate.
Professional Background:
20+ years as Law Enforcement K-9 Sergeant, Former K-9 Unit Supervisor at Cape May County Sheriff's Office, Lead K-9 Academy Instructor, Certified Police K-9 Trainer, Developer of the
"Working Obedience with Drive" training method.
Local Roots & Community Service:
Born and raised in Cape May County, Russ is a proud graduate of Lower Cape May Regional High School. His commitment to our community extends beyond dog training through his service as a Volunteer Firefighter, demonstrating his dedication to making our "Local" area of New Jersey a better place.
Training Philosophy:
Drawing from his extensive experience in police K-9 training, Russ developed his signature "Working Obedience with Drive" methodology. This innovative approach combines the precision required in law enforcement K-9 work with positive reinforcement techniques, making it effective for family dogs of all breeds and temperaments. His training integrates two scientific principals of Classical and Operant Conditioning, ensuring lasting results while maintaining your dog's natural drive and enthusiasm.

Russ's path to founding Lead The Way Dog Training began during his distinguished career at the Cape May County Sheriff's Office. There, he mastered the complexities of K-9 behavior and training, leading to the establishment of his first venture, Sit Happens LLC, which evolved into today's Lead The Way Dog Training. This progression represents not just a career change, but the refinement of a training philosophy that has helped countless dogs and their owners across Cape May County.
