Dog Training Simplified for Real Life!

About Lead The Way Dog Training

Clear communication, structure, and routine for dog owners who want training that holds up in real life.

We train dogs and coach owners so the work carries over at home, on walks, and in public. Our approach is built for people who want more than a good session. They want reliable behavior they can live with every day.

Who We Are

Lead The Way Dog Training is built around one standard. Training should help the dog understand what is expected and help the owner carry that work into real life.

That is why our programs focus on clear communication, structure, routine, and owner coaching instead of surface level obedience or quick fixes. We are here to help owners build better behavior they can live with, not create dependence on the trainer.

Built on Experience

Lead The Way Dog Training was founded by Russ Norcross, who created and directed a K9 academy during his 20 year law enforcement career. That background helped shape a standard built on timing, communication, consistency, and reliability.

Training Curriculum Developer

Today, that same standard drives the curriculum, training systems, and client experience at Lead The Way Dog Training. The goal is not to make owners dependent on one person. The goal is to help dogs learn clearly and help owners lead with more confidence in everyday life.

Meet the Team

Behind every program is a team built to support both the dog and the owner. Each role serves a purpose, but all of it works toward the same outcome. Clear communication, consistent standards, and training that carries over beyond the lesson.

Russ Norcross

Russ developed the training standards, systems, and curriculum that shape Lead The Way Dog Training. His background in high standard K9 training still drives the way the company teaches communication, structure, and real world carryover today.

Developer

Stephanie

Stephanie Beck brings persistence, practical handling skill, and a strong eye for the dog in front of her. When other trainers told her there was nothing they could do for her project dog, she refused to quit and called Russ. Today, that same dog is known for doing handstands at events. With knowledge from the veterinary world and skills developed through hands on handling, Stephanie has become a strong trainer who understands both the challenges and the process behind real progress.

Trainer

Hannah

Hannah Norcross graduated from Cape May County Technical High School in Environmental Science and was a member of FFA. She grew up around working dogs and assisted in their training from an early age, which helped shape her understanding of structure, consistency, and dog handling. Today, she helps reinforce the Lead The Way standard through hands on training, follow through, and the everyday repetition that helps dogs build more reliable behavior over time.

What Clients Can Expect

  • Clear Communication

We want the dog to understand what is being asked and the owner to understand how to apply it at home, on walks, and in public.

  • Structure with Purpose

We do not build training around chaos, guesswork, or random reps. We use a repeatable system that gives both dog and owner a clearer path forward.

  • Owner Coaching

We teach the dog and coach the owner because lasting success does not come from training sessions alone. It comes from routines, leadership, and follow through in daily life.

  • Real World Carryover

We are not interested in behavior that only works in one setting. We want training to hold up where it matters most. At home, on walks, and in public.

Our Training Center

Lead The Way Dog Training is located in Ocean View, New Jersey. Our training center gives us a dedicated environment to build structure, create purposeful reps, and help dogs work through learning in a more controlled setting before those skills are carried into daily life.

The environment matters because dogs do better when communication is clear and the work is built with intention. Our goal is not just to run dogs through exercises. Our goal is to help create understanding that owners can live with outside the building.

Real Results and Local Trust

Trust is built through outcomes people can live with.

We work with owners who want more than a quick fix. They want better communication, better routines, and behavior that carries over into real life. That is why the work is built around structure, repetition, and owner involvement instead of surface level obedience alone.

We are proud of the trust our clients place in us and the progress they make through consistent training, clear standards, and better communication at both ends of the leash.

Rooted in the Local Community

Lead The Way Dog Training is proud to support the local community in ways that go beyond training. That includes support for the Cape May County Coast Guard Community Foundation and Event Partnership with the Always Ready 5K and Always Ready K9 3K.
